Soboyesoong, Samson Soboye has been enthralling his customers in
Shoreditch for over ten years with his expert keen eye for the new and

fashion and lifestyle stores that have recently opened here. But he has also
firmly embedded his vision creating a destination point with a fiercely loyal,
yet diverse savvy client base. His offerings range from Women’s clothing and
accessories, through to Men’s casual wear and home furnishings.
Samson Soboye is one of the esteemed fashion
designers that mesmerizes his guests with his designs on the runway.
He’s been to Nigeria a few times and really captivated with the
creativity and Nigerians’ love for fashion.
At the Lagos Fashion Week 2013, he said;
“I wasn’t born here in Nigeria but I am a Nigerian. My parents came to
London in the 1960s. I have been to Nigeria about five times before now. This
is my first show and I will say it was amazing that I am doing this in my
father’s land.
“I studied fashion journalism in London for four years and have been
working for many years as a fashion stylist but this is my first collection for
men’s wear,”
He stated that he is encouraged with the development and talents many
Nigerian designers have. “There are no fashion colleges over here like we have
in London and people still produced amazing things. Nigeria has a much bigger
population and fashion has given people the opportunity to contribute to the
economy.”
About his works, he said “My inspiration comes from the richness of
Ankara fabric. Mixing it with other fabric determines the design.
Ankara always has its unique design and from the fabric, you choose the
patterns and so on. I want to bring out the beauty of Ankara and give the 21st
century styles a little more flavour. Now, I will say that Nigerian fashion
could compete on the world’s stage.”
