Nigerian female footballer, Asisat Oshoala has set a new record for herself, Nigeria and Africa as a whole by signing a lucrative deal with Liverpool FC Ladies Football Club.

 

 

English FA Women’s Super League champions, Liverpool Ladies have secured the services of Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala from Nigeria Women’s Premier League side, Rivers Angels.

 

The reigning Caf Female Player of the Year becomes the first African to secure a move to any English Women’s Super League outfit.

 

Asisat Oshoala won the Golden Ball award as the best player of the 2014 Fifa U20 World Cup and Golden Boot having scored 7 goals during the tournament.

 

Her new coach, Matt Beard said,

 

“We beat a number of top American and European clubs to Asisat’s signature, Asisat is one of the best young players in the world.

 

 

“Asisat proved in the U20 World Cup what a top-class talent she is and this signing is a big coup for us.”

A delighted Asisat Oshoala also said,

“Since I began my football career I have always dreamt of being a professional footballer so to be able to join the reigning Women’s Super League champions is absolutely fantastic. Liverpool Ladies are a massive Club who have some fantastic players who I believe can help to develop my game to the next level.

“It was also a big incentive to be able to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, which is a huge competition and one I’m confident we can do well in.”
