Challenge Cup Lagos

Challenge Cup Lagos is going down on January 22, 2016. Nigeria. The competition is a startup pitching competition, that offers winners global opportunities and access to intellectual, social and  financial capital (USD175,00). If your startup is addressing problems in Education, Energy & Sustainability, Health, Transport, or Cities, then this is right up your alley. Winners will go on to represent Africa at Washington DC later in the year. 

This is nothing to scoff at as the backers include Generation Enterprise and Cre8 Innovation Hub.

Startup and Tech Conference

Startup and Tech Conference is a 2-day conference for founders, techies and people from the startup and tech ecosystem. This year’s theme is Digitizing Africa. Remittance & MobileMoney Expo

Hosted by Mobile Money Africa, the Remittance and Mobile Money Expo 2016 will bring together top executives from money transfer operators, financial services providers, mobile network operators, Banks, regulators, card processors, switch providers, systems and application providers and more. This year’s theme is “Lowering Transaction Cost”. 

For two days, the conference will showcase case studies on digital financial services, agency banking, policies, mobile payments, cards, micro finance and innovators providing international and cross border remittance services into and across Africa.

This is arguably the largest gathering of stakeholders in the remittance ecosystem serving the African remittance industry.

Technoference 2016

Technoference is an annual Technology Exposition and Business Conference specially crafted for Nigerian Start-Ups, SMEs and MSMEs. This year’s theme is “Assets Through Gadgets” and seeks to explore the significant role that technology plays, not just in our day to day lives but also in completely transforming how we do business. Scheduled to attend is the Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Olufemi Odubiyi.

BBC Connected Studio

On January 18th, 2016, Connected Studio (a part of the BBC’s research and development department), and BBC News Labs, in partnership with CcHUB (Co-Creation Hub) are holding a collaborative ideas workshop in Lagos, Nigeria. The workshop is aimed at generating ideas for digital tools, to optimise the distribution of BBC content in Africa.

“We are inviting digital agencies, entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts within the tech ecosystem both locally (Nigeria) and on a global scale, to take part.”

Tech4Her Africa is a social enterprise working to expand economic opportunities for women and girls  in Africa by enabling them in #STEEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Mathematics and with key focus on ICT.
